1473 Ounas, provisional designation 1938 UT, is a stony asteroid and slow rotator from the inner regions of the asteroid belt, about 18 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered by Finnish astronomer Yrjö Väisälä at Turku Observatory in Southwest Finland on 22 October 1938.[7]

The S-type asteroid orbits the Sun at a distance of 2.0–3.2 AU once every 4.13 years (1,508 days). Its orbit shows an eccentricity of 0.24 and is tilted by 14 degrees to the plane of the ecliptic. It has a very long rotation period of 139.100 hours[5][6] and an albedo of 0.11.[4]

The minor planet was named after the Ounas river, one of the principal rivers in Finland.[2]
