The 1989 NCAA Men's Division I Ice Hockey Tournament was the culmination of the 1988–89 season in men's ice hockey for teams in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Beginning with the 1989 tournament, the first and quarterfinal rounds were changed to a best-of-three format from the previous two game, total goals series in place since 1981. Series were held at the campus of the higher seed. Semifinals and championship game remain single elimination.

The Harvard Crimson defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the championship game, held in St. Paul, Minnesota on April 1.
