Henry Downey captained the victorious Derry team.[2]
Aftermath
Derry's manager that day was Eamonn Coleman. When Coleman died in 2007, the All-Ireland winning squad formed a guard of honour at his funeral.[3][4]
Cork player Joe Kavanagh, who also played in their 1999 defeat to Meath, would describe 1999 as being as bad as 1993.[5]
