The 1998-99 NBA season was the Kings' 50th season in the NBA and 14th in Sacramento. With the addition of Chris Webber, Vlade Divac and first round draft pick Jason Williams, the Kings finished third in the Pacific Division with a 27-23 record, their first winning season in 16 years. In the first round of the playoffs, the Kings got off to a good start, taking a 2-1 lead over #3 seed Utah Jazz. However, the Jazz won Game 4 by one point to even the series and force a decisive fifth game. The Kings lost Game 5 in overtime 99-92.
