Andy Murray was the two-time defending champion, but lost to Kevin Anderson in the second round. World No.1 Novak Djokovic won his 10th Masters 1000 title of his career and his 9th title of the year, beating Mardy Fish in the final 6–2, 3–6, 6–4. Djokovic became the first tennis player to win 5 ATP Masters 1000 titles in the same year.
