The 34th International Emmy Awards took place on November 20, 2006, at the Hilton Hotel in New York City, United States and hosted by Irish comedian Graham Norton.[1]

Ceremony

The nominees for the 34th International Emmy Awards were announced by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, in October 9, 2006, at a press conference at MIPCOM in Cannes.

With a record five nominations each, Brazil and Germany lead the dispute between artists from Asia, Europe and South America nominees for the 34th International Emmy Awards. The UK again received the most nominations, getting 17 of the 36 nominations in nine categories, including the for art, best actor and actress, children's, comedy and drama documentary.[2]

In addition to the presentation of the International Emmy Awards for programming, the Academy paid tribute Steven Spielberg with the International Emmy Founders Award, and Ronald S. Lauder, founder and director of Central European Media Enterprises with the International Emmy Directorate Award.[3]
