"5,6,7,8" is the debut single by British pop group, Steps. The verses are performed by Lee Latchford-Evans and Lisa Scott-Lee performs the middle eight. The choruses feature no male singing voices. The song's release coincided with a minor line dancing craze in the UK at the time.

Although it is only one of two Steps singles to miss the top ten in the UK, it is also one of their highest sellers. It remained in the top 20 for ten weeks and sold over 300,000 copies, more than some of their top 5 hits. In the UK it was the biggest selling single of the 1990s not to enter the top 10 in the UK Singles Chart.[citation needed] It did, however, top the charts in Australia.[1]
