Aghuyeh (Persian: اغويه‎‎, also Romanized as Āghūyeh, Aghooyeh, Aghveyeh, and Āghvīyeh; also known as Agi)[1] is a village in Misheh Pareh Rural District, in the Central District of Kaleybar County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 250, in 54 families.[2]

Situation

Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. Before the Islamic Revolution, the village was famous for a holly family, who were considered to be the descendant of prophet of Islam. In addition, the village had two tea-houses to serve the numerous passengers who flocked from the county's villages to Kaleybar for bartering their produce in the town. The completion of Kaleybar--Oskolou road diminished Aghaweye's importance.

In recent years, some expatriates have returned and constructed retirement residences. The Mikandi Valley, near Aliabad village, is a popular tourist destination.
