Alton Convent School is an independent Catholic day school on the outskirts of Alton, Hampshire. It has approximately 450 [1] pupils of all faiths. Situated on a 19-acre (77,000 m2) campus, it educates children from 2 to 11 and girls aged 11 to 18.
History
Alton Convent School was established in 1938 by the Sisters of Our Lady of Providence. Since then it has been located in the Anstey Manor House in Alton, Hampshire. The current school comprises The Garden House Day Nursery for children aged six months to 3, a prep school (3-11), senior school (11-16) and (sixth form).
Curriculum
Senior School subjects are divided into Core, Additional and Extended which allows pupils to learn at their own paces. Girls take ten GCSE subjects and may choose from a variety of electives including separate sciences, law, photography, geography, history, art and drama.[2]
Activities
Some events and activities are organised jointly with sister Catholic school Salesian College in nearby Farnborough. The school hosts a joint Michaelmas ball with nearby More House School.[3]
