Anthony L. Romano is an American Democratic Party politician, who represents District 5 on the Hudson County, New Jersey Board of Chosen Freeholders; one of nine members who serve in a legislative role administering all county business. Romano was elected in 2008 and took office on January 2, 2009.[1] He was re-elected November 4, 2014 in an uncontested race.[2]

Both of Romano's grandfathers immigrated from Italy to the United States during the First World War.[3] Born and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey, Romano is a Retired Captain of Police, serving with the Hoboken Police Department from 1978 through 2011.[4] Romano is also a former teacher at Hoboken High School with degrees in history from St. Peter's College and criminal justice from New Jersey City University.[5]
