Atninsky District (Russian: Атни́нский райо́н; Tatar: Cyrillic Әтнә районы, Latin Ətnə rayonı) is an administrative[1] and municipal[3] district (raion), one of the forty-three in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. It is located in the northwest of the republic. The area of the district is 681.4 square kilometers (263.1 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Bolshaya Atnya.[2] Population: 13,650 (2010 Census);[4] 14,411 (2002 Census).[7] The population of Bolshaya Atnya accounts for 25.9% of the district's total population.[4]
