Avaraikulam is a village in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, India. It is located 72.5 km from Tirunelveli main town and 19.8 km from Kanyakumari. A village with 90% of people working for Agriculture directly or indirectly. A temple Arulmigu Mutharamman Thirukovil is in the middle of the Village and which is famous for its Vaigasi (A Tamil Month) Thiruvizha. It has a school named Baliah Marthandam Memorial Higher Secondary School. The students from the surrounding villages are studying in Avaraikulam. Avaraikulam has many windmills to produce electricity from the wind.

There are more than ten Hindu temples in this Village and two Christian churches one Roman Catholic and one CSI are also there.The Arulmigu Muthaaramman Temple is common for all and all other temples are Family temples.The persent form of the Temple is due to the hard work of all the people.The ten days festival is a famous festival of cithirai the Tamil month.The following GODS have separate moolasthanams in the temple.1,Arulmigu Mutharamman,2,Vinayagar,3,Vethalam,4,Sudalaimada Swamy,5,Nava graghas, 6,Ragu and kethu,7,Bairavar.

       Thiruvilakku poojai is performed every month,Special poojai is performed regularly on full moon days besides the poojas on every Tuesday and Friday.During the month of Karthigai Three days festival is celebrated every year.
       Every year ten days festival is celebrated in the RC church and X'mas and new year are celebrated in both the churches.
Ayya Vaikundar Nizhalthangal is an important divine place to visit on the village situated on Vaikunda Street, next to Mutharamman temple, Avaraikulam. The devotees of the thangal worships daily on the thangal. Thaangal members are planned to found an Arakattalai in the name of Vaikundar for the development of poor students and poor people. Every month the devotees in the village celebrates Muthalkizhamai at this thaangal on every first Sunday of Tamil month. The devotees celebrate 16 days Yedu Vasippu on karthigai month of every year. Ayya Vaikundar's Incornation (Maasi 20) is famous festival in the thaangal and other villages. Thousands of devotees will come to the thangal on the same day.

Present status of Avaraikulam

Peoples in Avaraikulam are the descendents of Pandiyan Kingdom hailed from Kurumbur near Tisayanvilai.

More than 95% peoples in this village are farmers and most of them own flower farms. This village is famous for Jasmine, Rose, Kenthi, Vadamalli, Pitchi, chevvanthi cultivation. All these flowers are collected by small traders and sold in the nearby small town Thovalai flower market. All the flower traders come over there from different regions of Tamil Nadu even from Kerala and auction takes place. Many family temples are there. There are also two Christian churches. St. Mark's Church functions under Church of South India province. The Roman Catholic church in Avaraikulam with St. Xavier as patron, was constructed in the year 1907. All people are united and make any decision for the development of the village. All the farmers are dependent only on the ground water for irrigation and due to little rain fall the ground water level goes very deep. Now, most of the farmer's children have deviated from their parent's occupation. They pursue higher education, seek better job opportunities and are migrating to other cities and countries.
