Bardoli is a city and a municipality in Surat Metropolitan Region in the state of Gujarat, India. Bardoli is the east most end of the Metropolis of Surat. Bardoli is one of the primary Satellite Towns of Surat Metropolitan Region.

Hazira-Bardoli Expressway

Bardoli is located 35 km from Surat and the connection is smooth but due to heavy traffic congestion it takes more than an hour to reach Bardoli from Surat. The new Hazira-Bardoli Expressway is under construction which will reduce the commuting time by current 1 hour 15 minutes to just 30 minutes after the completion.

Bardoli Satyagrah

The Bardoli Satyagraha movement was started in January 1926 after the land revenue in Bardoli taluka was increased by 30 per cent. In February 1926, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was called to lead the movement.[citation needed]

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Bardoli had a population of 51,963. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Bardoli has an average literacy rate of 74%, which is on par with the national average of 70.04%; with 54% of the males and 46% of females literate. 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.
