Birstall Shopping Park is a shopping park located in Birstall, Batley, West Yorkshire, England.[3] It contains a wide variety of retailers and includes the region's only IKEA store.[5] Adjacent is another retail park, Junction 27 Retail Park, specialising in bulky goods and electronics.[6] The section of the park containing retailers Pets at Home and Homesense is known as Spring Ram Retail Park, and was built slightly later than the rest of the complex, however it is considered as a part of Birstall Shopping Park and is under common ownership.[7]

It is located on the A62 near M62 Junction 27, between Birstall and Gildersome. The town of Morley is located close by, as is the boundary between the City of Leeds and Kirklees.[8] However the park is located wholly within Kirklees. The site can often be mistaken to be a part of Leeds due to its closeness but the site is within the borders of Kirklees, the companies pay their taxes to Kirklees and Kirklees was the council that set up the site. [9]

Retailers

The park hosts a wide variety of retailers, covering many different areas, the larger stores on the park include Toys R Us, IKEA, DW Sports Fitness and DFS. There is also a Marks and Spencer Simply Food store, the only food store on the site.[4] The majority of retailers are major UK high street names. It also contains a wide variety of restaurants, namely TGI Fridays, Frankie and Benny's, Bella Italia and McDonalds. In addition there are the Showcase Cinemas, the cinemas are considered as a part of the Shopping Park, but are located on the other site of the A62 alongside DW Sports Fitness and McDonalds.

Transport Links

The car parks at the park are spread over the entire area of the park, including a multi-storey car park at IKEA, and single level car parks in the main site of the park and in the additional sections on the other side of the A62.[10] The centre is also served by two Arriva Yorkshire bus routes, linking it to Huddersfield, Batley, Heckmondwike and Leeds.[11]
