Brandi Michele Hitt (born January 7, 1980) is a reporter for ABC News, who appears on various programs for the network. She has won a television news Emmy award.

Early life and education

Brandi Michele Hitt was born on January 7, 1980 in Lodi, California to mother Jeannie Francene Hitt (nee Lucido) and father Lonnie Hitt. [1] She has an older brother, Jason born in 1977. Hitt graduated from Tokay High School in Lodi, California in 1998.[2][3][4] She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communications and journalism from California State University, Fresno in 2001.

Career

Hitt started her journalism career at KVEW in the Tri-Cities, Washington area from 2002 until departing back for California in early 2003. Hitt worked as a morning news anchor and reporter for KMPH in Fresno, California from 2003 until 2005. Next, she went to KOVR in Sacramento, California from 2005 until 2010 where she did anchoring and reporting assignments. Then, she made her way to Los AngelesKTLA from 2010 till her departure in 2012, whilst being an anchor and reporter. In 2012, she reached national prominence by joining ABC News. She has covered the Aurora theater massacre, the Penn State sex abuse scandal, the three presidential debates of 2012, the 2013 presidential inauguration and the Boston Marathon bombings, so far during her time at the network. As Hitt is still based in Los Angeles, she is often a fill-in anchor locally on KABC-TV.

Personal life

In 2006, Hitt married Christopher Allan Poe, who is related to Edgar Allan Poe, and in 2014 Hitt had the couple’s first child a daughter Khaleesi Michelle Poe.
