Café Monico was built on London's Shaftesbury Avenue.

It was originally established in 1877 at 15 Tichborne Street in 1877 by the brothers Giacomo and Battista Monico.[1]

The Climbers' Club was formed there in 1897.[2]

The banquet for the London 1899 chess tournament took place there.[3]

Cafe Monico reopened under the new ownership of Soho House & Co in April 2016. It has undergone a large refurbishment since the site previously housed the nightclub 'Avalon'. It is now a two-floor restaurant serving European dishes under the supervision of consultant chef Rowley Leigh.

During Monico's reopening in 2016, Soho House founder Nick Jones was seen dining in the venue's top floor with publicist Nimrod Kamer, for the writing of Jones' biography.
