Calmar is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located in Leduc County, on Highway 39, 35 kilometres (22 mi) southwest from Edmonton.

Calmar experiences a humid continental climate (Köppen Dfb).[4]

Demographics

The population of the Town of Calmar according to its 2014 municipal census is 2,101,[6] a 3.3% change from its 2009 municipal census population of 2,033.[7]

In the 2011 Census, the Town of Calmar had a population of 1,970 living in 760 of its 798 total dwellings, a 0.6% change from its 2006 population of 1,959. With a land area of 4.65 km2 (1.80 sq mi), it had a population density of 423.7/km2 (1,097.3/sq mi) in 2011.[2]

In 2006, Calmar had a population of 1,959 living in 741 dwellings, a 3.0% increase from its 2001 population of 1,902. The town had a land area of 4.34 km2 (1.68 sq mi) and a population density of 451.1/km2 (1,168/sq mi).[8]

Economy

The Town of Calmar is a member of the Leduc-Nisku Economic Development Association, an economic development partnership that markets Alberta's International Region[9] in proximity to the Edmonton International Airport.[10]
