Carbrini Sportswear is a leisure wear brand of clothing owned by and sold exclusively at JD Sports. They have developed a full range of leisure wear, ranging from trainers to tracksuits. The brand is associated with football and several pro teams that play in the English football pyramid are supplied with Carbrini kits and training range.

Involvement in football

Carbrini was first introduced to JD Sports in 2006 with their funky clothing line of urban footwear. They are suppliers for League One side Crewe Alexandra[1] and League Two side Luton Town.[2]

In March 2009 Carbrini Sportswear manufactured a one-off set, of unique pink kits for Oldham Athletic for their home game against Leeds United. After the game the kits were auctioned off on the club's website and all proceeds were donated to a charity associated with the Victoria Breast Unit at the Royal Oldham Hospital.[3]

For the 2009 and 2010 seasons, Carbrini Sportswear were also the official kit supplier to Masters Football.[4]

The Carbrini Sportswear football shirts use Carbrini CBX TEX garment technology, which makes the shirts more breathable and able to wick moisture away from the skin. From the start of the 2010–11 season the new shirts will feature the innovative "Twist" design. "The Twist" is an intelligent shirt that allows the shirt to work with the movement of the body.[5]

Former clubs sponsored

Until the end of the 2008–09 season, Charlton Athletic were also sponsored by Carbrini Sportswear.[16] Carbrini Sportwear were also the shirt sponsors to Luton Town for the 2008–09 season, but their relegation into the Conference National meant that Carbrini Sportswear could renegotiate the deal and their offer was far lower than before.[17] Luton Town then announced Easyjet[18] as their replacement shirt sponsor, prior to the pre-season friendly against a Manchester United XI, on Tuesday 28 July 2009. Carbrini Sportswear were also the shirt sponsors for Scottish Premier League side and 2009–10 Scottish Cup Winners Dundee United, until the end of the 2009–10 season.[19][20] Although Dundee United were sponsored by Carbrini Sportswear their kit was supplied by Nike.[21]
