Casiano Communications is a private Puerto Rico-based company mostly known for its publishing of various periodicals and magazines which are distributed in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, the continental United States and in 20 other countries. Founded in 1973, it currently publishes one weekly newspaper, 7 monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual magazines, and two annual guides, with themes ranging from business to weddings to daily lifestyle, and offers various marketing and advertising services. With total global circulations reaching over 10,302,700 annually, the company has identified itself as the largest U.S. Hispanic-owned publisher of periodicals, magazines and websites in the United States.[1]
Its headquarters, located in San Juan, includes an in-house marketing research department, editorial and printing production facilities and photography studios. In recent years, the company has diversified its products from publishing magazines to offering full marketing and advertising services for companies. Additionally, the company now has a “Corporate Technology Development” department that produces interactive marketing products for companies, such as promotional CD-ROMs and Internet Web Pages.
In 2000, the company unveiled a new search engine and web portal dedicated exclusively for Puerto Rico. The website, called "Puerto Rico WOW!", also has a business directory and links to view digital versions of articles published in its printed magazines. The website currently receives an average of 19 million hits a month and 191,000 pages viewed daily, as per WebTrends.[2] In 2008, Puerto Rico WOW! was converted into www.caribbeanbusinessPR.com, which has gone on to surpass WOW! in terms of traffic and ad revenue. Another website, www.TVaquiPR.com, was also launched in 2008 as a complement to its namesake weekly celebrity gossip magazine, TVaquí.
