The Wignacourt towers are a series of fortified watch towers on the island of Malta.
They were built by the Knights of Malta.
The initial towers of this type were built under the auspices of Grand Master Fra Aloph de Wignacourt, though towers of this type continued to be built after his death. This category lists towers of this type, not only those built under De Wignacourt. A total of seven towers of this type were constructed.
Unlike the later De Redin towers these were more than simply lookout towers, and formed significant strongpoints intended to protect vulnerable sections of the coast from attack.
