It is about 11.5 square kilometers, of which the land area is 8.5 square kilometers.[1] Its western part is linked to Guangzhou University Town by a bridge. Many cultural relics and attractions including the renowned Whampoa Military Academy, a former military school established by Dr. Sun Yat-sen, are situated there.[2][3]
