Chartered organizations of the Boy Scouts of America

All Boy Scouts of America units are owned and operated by chartered organizations. Of the 105,161 units (Boy Scout troops, Cub Scout packs and Venturing crews) and 3,615,306 youth members in 2010:

  • 68.4% of all units, comprising 62.5% of all youth members, are chartered to faith-based organizations
  • 26.5% of all units, comprising 25.1% of all youth members, are chartered to civic organizations
  • 8.2% of all units, comprising and 12.4% of all youth members, are chartered to educational organizations

Each unit is chartered by a local branch of an organization, not at the national level. The following tables combine all chartering organizations that fall into a religious denomination or national organization.
