Christian Fraser

Christian Fraser is the former Paris Correspondent for BBC News, the main newsgathering department of the BBC, and its 24 hour television news channels BBC World News and BBC News Channel, as well as the BBC's domestic television and radio channels and the BBC World Service. He was formerly the BBC Rome Correspondent and BBC Middle East Correspondent. He became BBC Paris Correspondent in 2010. He is currently the BBC's Senior News Correspondent, and based in London.

Education

Fraser was educated at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, a co-educational independent school in the city of Blackburn in Lancashire, in North West England.

Life and career

Fraser was born and raised in Burnley, Lancashire. He was formerly a writer for the Daily Mirror newspaper, and in 2000 he joined BBC Radio 5 Live. He then became a reporter for BBC News, and in 2007 was appointed BBC Rome Correspondent. In 2009 he became BBC Middle East Correspondent, based in Cairo. He appears on many BBC news programmes, including the BBC News at 6, BBC News at 10, Newsnight and on BBC Radio 4's Today and The World Tonight. He has also appeared many times on both the UK's domestic digital TV channel BBC News Channel and on the international satellite TV channel BBC World News.

Fraser is a supporter of Burnley Football Club and is 19th in the list of Duffer's favourite celebrity Clarets - just ahead of Anna Ford.

In December 2015, while covering the Cumbrian floods, Fraser photographed an overturned lorry from his car while passing by on the motorway, posting it on twitter. This was later deleted by Fraser, who still tried to defend the use of the mobile whilst driving & refusing to confirm who actually took the image.
