In Chilean historiography the Conservative Republic was a period of the history of Chile that extended between 1830[1] and 1861, characterized by the hegemony of the conservative party, whose supporters were called pelucones. Began with the pipiolos defeat by the pelucones in the Battle of Lircay in 1830, ended with the Civil War. Ends with the election of the independent Jose Joaquin Perez as president, broking the hegemony of the conservative party, in 1861. Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found.
