CEB is a global publicly traded, best practice insight and technology company[3] that provides products and services to businesses worldwide. CEB's offerings align to functional and industry roles, and primarily focus its research with major corporate functions, Finance, Financial Services, Government, Human Resources, Information Technology, Innovation and Strategy, Legal, Risk and Compliance, Marketing and Communications, Procurement and Operations, and Sales and Service.[4]

History

The Corporate Executive Board (CEB Inc) offered its first program to executives, Council on Financial Competition in 1983 when it was part of The Advisory Board Company.[5] Fourteen years later, Corporate Executive Board split from Advisory Board Company and opened a new office in London.[6]

CEB went public in 1999 on the NASDAQ exchange. The company grew over the next five years to 1100 staff members and opened another office in India.[7]

Tom Monahan was appointed CEO in 2005.[8] At that time, the company expanded offerings to accommodate middle market companies. In 2007, the company expanded domestically and opened offices in San Francisco and Chicago.

The company left Washington, D.C. in 2008 to move its global headquarters to the Rosslyn neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia.[9] The next year, CEB acquired Toronto-based Warrillow & Co.,[10] as well as the financial services firm TowerGroup[11]

In May 2010, the company acquired consumer research and advisory company Iconoculture.[12] Later that year, CEB transferred listing of its common stock from NASDAQ to the NYSE, and began trading on 20 August 2010.[13]

The company acquired Baumgartner & Partner, a Germany-based consulting firm in October 2011.[14] Later that year, the company published The Challenger Sale by Brent Adamson and Matthew Dixon through publisher, Portfolio/Penguin on November 10, 2011.[15][16]

In 2012, CEB acquired two more companies, Valtera, a provider of talent management consulting services[17] and SHL, a UK-based talent measurement company.[18] In September, the company formally rebranded itself as "CEB", updating its logo and NYSE ticker symbol (CEB's stock began actively trading as "CEB" on August 13, 2012). The company's legal name remained The Corporate Executive Board Company.[19]

The company acquired Talent Neuron in February 2014, an Indian talent analytics startup for an undisclosed amount.[20] In July, the company opened an office in Chennai, India and announced plans to become marquis tenant of the CEB Tower in Rosslyn, Virginia.[21]

In May 2015, the company changed its legal name to "CEB Inc."[22]

In May 2016, CEB acquired Evanta Ventures, Inc. ("Evanta") for $275 million.[23] Evanta is based in Portland, Oregon, and provides events, platforms and information offerings to train IT-security, human-resources and finance staff in collaboration and best practices. Evanta fosters collaboration, as well as the exchange of best practices among the Information Technology & Security, Human Resources and Finance leaders through nearly 200 annual events, online and offline learning platforms and subscription information offerings.

Stock information

CEB's IPO occurred February 22, 1999 at an offer price of $19. The company, previously on NASDAQ, entered into an alliance with NYSE Euronext in 2010 and began actively trading as CEB in 2012.[24]
