Costa Magica is a cruise ship for the Costa Crociere cruise line. She debuted in 2004 as a sister ship to Costa Fortuna, built on the same platform as the Destiny-class of the Carnival Cruise Lines. Magica pays homage to some of the most famous destinations in Italy including Positano, Portofino, Bellagio, and Sicily which are all incorporated into her public rooms and restaurants. At 102.587 GT, she is one of the largest in the Costa Crociere fleet.
Incidents
On the 4 January 2006, fifteen-year-old Irish girl Lynsey O' Brien fell overboard Costa Magica. The underage O' Brien had been served with two vodkas and many different cocktails in the ship's bar. She returned to the cabin and promptly fell over the balcony of her stateroom. Her body has never been recovered and her mother has stated she thinks Lynsey hit her head on a lifeboat after falling and was unconscious when she hit the water. O' Brien's father Paul committed suicide on the 8 July 2013.
