Craiova International Airport (IATA: CRA, ICAO: LRCV) is located in south-western part of Romania, 7 km (4.3 mi) east[1] of Craiova municipality, one of Romania's largest cities. The airport region is the headquarters of Avioane Craiova SA (formerly known as IRAv Craiova), the company which built the Romanian IAR-93 and IAR-99 aircraft.

History

Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. A new terminal was opened at Craiova airport in December 2010.[4]

Since July 2014 Craiova Airport is base for Wizz Air which serves 5 destinations in 3 countries: Italy - Rome Ciampino with 2 weekly flights, Bologna with 2 weekly flights and Milan Bergamo with 4 weekly flights; Spain - Barcelona with 2 weekly flights; United Kingdom - London Luton with 3 weekly flights. On 15 May 2015 Wizz Air announced that they would suspend flights to and from Craiova airport from 1 June 2015 until mid-September 2015, due to a runway renovation.[5] A local government official said that charter flights would not be affected.[6]

Ground transportation

The airport is connected to the city via bus route 9 (Metro-Central Market-Craiovița Nouă) of the public transport company RAT Craiova. There is a station in front of the airport with all-day service time.[7] Tickets can be purchased from the bus drivers at a cost of 2.5 RON (€ 0.60). Taxis are also available at a cost of around 1.5 RON/km.
