Drsnik (Serbian: Дрсник) or Dërsnik (Albanian: Dërsnik or Dërsniku) is a settlement in the Klina municipality of Kosovo.[1] During Early Middle Ages, Porphyrogenitus mentions the urban center of Desstinik.[2][better source needed] There are very important archeological discoveries of Roman period made in August 2013.[3]

Dërsnik had a Serbian majority. In June 1999 the Serbian population fled due to war. Serbs returned to the village after five years, on June 2005.[4] The church of St. Paraskeva, which dates back to the 16th century, was completely torched inside in June 1999 and is undergoing complete renewal and restoration of the surviving frescoes.[4]

The Serbian media reports that several homes have been burned in 2009.[5]

Population

In the 2011 census, the population was 1770.[6]

Previous census figures may not have been accurate. Data for 1991 may not reflect the correct number of Albanians that year, as they largely boycotted that census.
