David Kennedy, 9th Marquess of Ailsa
David Thomas Kennedy, 9th Marquess of Ailsa, (3 July 1958) is a Scottish peer and the hereditary Clan Chief of Clan Kennedy.[1][2]
Life
Ailsa is the younger son of Archibald Kennedy, 7th Marquess of Ailsa, and succeeded his brother Archibald Kennedy, 8th Marquess of Ailsa in January 2015.[1]
He hit the news in 2015 after applying for planning permission to build eight large wind turbines within sight of Culzean Castle, a scheme which was opposed by Donald Trump, owner of the nearby Ailsa golf course. At the end of April, Ailsa withdrew his application.[3]
Before inheriting the title and estates, Ailsa had a farm near Maybole in Ayrshire.[4]
Lord Ailsa has two children, one daughter and one son:
- Lady Katherine Jean Kennedy (b. 22 Oct 1993)
- Archibald David Kennedy Earl of Cassillis (b. 7 Sep 1995)[1]
