David Wayne Marsh CBE (born 30 July 1952) is a British financial specialist, business consultant and writer on political, economic and monetary issues.

Marsh is Managing Director and co-founder of the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF) that links central banks, sovereign funds and private sector financial groups. He is Senior Adviser to London-based asset management company, Soditic and Board Member of Henderson Eurotrust.

He is on the board of the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany and the Institute for Corporate Cultural Affairs.

In the New Year Honours 2000 Marsh was appointed as a Commander of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for services to Anglo-German relations. and in 2003 was awarded the German Order of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuz).

Previously, he worked for City merchant bank, Robert Fleming, corporate finance boutique, Hawkpoint and German management consultancy, Droege. Between 1978 and 1995 he worked for the Financial Times in France and Germany, latterly as European Editor. Marsh started his career at Reuters in 1973 after studying chemistry at Oxford University.

Marsh has written five books: 'Europe's Deadlock: How the Crisis Could Be Solved - And Why It Won't Happen' (2013), also published in Dutch in April 2014 as ‘Europa’s Impasse - Hoe de eurocrisis kan worden opgelost en waarom dat niet gebeurt’; 'The Euro – The Politics of the New Global Currency' (2009 – re-released in 2011 as 'The Battle for the New Global Currency'); 'Germany and Europe – The Crisis of Unity' (1994); 'The Bundesbank – The Bank that Rules Europe' (1992); and 'Germany – Rich, Bothered and Divided' (1989).

He is a frequent commentator in the international media. He writes a weekly article for The Wall Street Journal's MarketWatch, for German newspaper Handelsblatt, and contributes occasionally to other media outlets that in 2010 included Financial Times, Daily Mail and New York Times.

Marsh regularly takes part in lectures, seminars and panel discussions. In 2010-11 he gave presentations on different aspects of international economic and monetary issues, ranging from the crisis affecting the euro to perspectives for the world economy, in Abu Dhabi, Amsterdam, Baden Baden, Beijing, Berlin, Cape Town, Cologne, Copenhagen, Dresden, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, Kuala Lumpur, Kuwait, London, Prague, Pretoria, Princeton, Seoul, Singapore, Taipei, Tokyo, Warsaw, Yale, Zanzibar and Zurich.

OMFIF Press

As the managing director at OMFIF, David Marsh wanted to publish books on monetary and economic matters. These books would focus on topics such as international monetary reform, the workings of the financial markets, geopolitical issues and energy. OMFIF has published "The Tides of Capital" in January 2015. In this book he writes a publishers note which says "This book springs from a series of fortuitous coincidences. I had long wished to launch a book on what the west should learn - and indeed should have learned some time ago - from the Asian financial crisis and its aftermath. I am very pleased that Julia Leung, a senior Hong Kong policy-maker with considerable reserves of experience, verve, tact, charm and patience, has consented to write the first volume from the OMFIF Press, with results that I know will be a great success."
