Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital (previously Scartho Road hospital) is situated off Scartho Road, Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England. It was renamed in the Princess' honour after her death because she had opened it a decade before on 26 July 1983.[citation needed] The hospital is part of the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.[1]

It was built between 1976 and 1983[dubious ] by Sindall Construction of Cambridge (project director: David H Hardware), and in 2001 the Trust running the hospital merged with its counterpart running Scunthorpe and Goole Hospitals. Many millions of pounds has been spent on upgrading the hospital in recent years.

These developments include a new cardiology unit,[2] a new breast care unit,[3] a new Family Services Unit[4] and the first phase of a new Accident and Emergency unit was completed in August 2008.[5]

At the forefront of infection control, the Trust was a pioneer of the cleanyourhands campaign.[6]

In film

The hospital was used for filming scenes of the 1986 film Clockwise.[citation needed]
