Elham Aminzadeh is an Iranian academic, lawmaker and vice president of Iran in the cabinet of Hassan Rouhani. She is the first woman to hold the post of vice president for legal affairs in the country.[1]

Education

Aminzadeh holds a PhD in law from the University of Glasgow in 1997.[2] The title of her PhD thesis is "the United Nations and international peace and security: a legal and practical analysis".[2]

Career

Aminzadeh worked as assistant professor of law at the University of Tehran and her speciality is in the fields of international public law, energy law and human rights.[3][4] She also taught at the University of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Allameh Tabatabaei University[5] and Imam Sadegh University.[6] She served at the seventh term of the Majlis as a lawmaker from 2004 to 2008.[6][7] She was the deputy head of the Majlis's national security and foreign policy committee.[6]

She was appointed vice president for legal affairs by Hassan Rouhani on 11 August 2013.[4][8]
