Elizabeth of Celje (1441 – 1455), also Elizabeth of Cilli, was the first wife of Matthias Corvinus, the future King of Hungary.

Parentage
Elizabeth was the daughter of Ulrich II, Count of Celje by his wife, Catherine Branković.[1][2] Her father was a Prince of the Holy Roman Empire who also held domains in the Kingdom of Hungary.[1][2] Through her mother, Elizabeth was a granddaughter of Đorđe Branković, Despot of Serbia.[3]
Betrothal
Elizabeth's father and grandfather were long-time opponents of John Hunyadi who was elected Regent of the Kingdom of Hungary in 1446.[citation needed]
