Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Technical University of Varna

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (Bulgarian: Машинно-технологичен факултет) is a basic unit and one of the first three faculties in the structure of the Technical University of Varna. The Rectorate of the University is also housed inside the building of Mechanical Engineering.

History
The faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Technical University of Varna is successor of the Mechanical department of the State University "St. Cyril Slavyanobulgarski" (State polytechnic school). In the years 1947-1953 the department had courses in Mechanical engineering, Construction of mechanical machines and bodies, and Petrol and steam engines. The first lectures were given in the building of the State University (now the Economic University of Varna). The building of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was built in 1971. Since the end of the 1970s in the twin building of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering the Recto rate of the institute has been housed. Faculty of Mechanical Engineering get help for equipping the laboratories from VAMO Varna (diesel engines), Varna Dockyard, and Varna Shipbuilding.

Department of Materials Science and Technology
The department was found in 1963 by Professor Evgeny Vatev, D.Sc, Eng. Initially exercises and lecture courses were held in the building of the State University (Varna University). First part-time teachers are emoluments as lecturers at the Technical Faculty continued specialization abroad and highly qualified teachers from the Technical University in Sofia and Ruse University "Angel Kanchev".

Department of Industrial Design
The profile Engineering design was founded within the university in 1995. In the next years the department was developed in different directions of design e.g. mechanical, electrical, and industrial design. After 2003 were created profiles like interior design, exterior design and graphic design.

Department of Transport Equipment and Technologies
The Department of Transport was established in 1963 PhD in "Internal Combustion Engines" .First teachers of the department assistants and interns from mashinniti and marine specialties universiteta.Prez 1970 year, the department started its activity in the new university complex, after seven years ago It was housed in the building of VINS.Prez 1971 and 1972 began furnishing of technical laboratories, focusing on the automotive and maritime transport. Sled experience some of the professors in the Department increased its level of education in transport engineering technical institutes in the USSR bifshiya .Oblastta which are protected disertatsiiite a technical mehanizatsiya.Prez 1989 the department was elected first professor - Venelin Sevastakiev.Za development and implementation of department and specialization of future professionals the leadership of the department and the university signed cooperation agreements with similar departments in institutes and universities from different countries, including: Russia, Czech Republic, Germany and others.
