Fay Hartog-Levin (born 1948) is an American lawyer, consultant, and diplomat. She is a former United States Ambassador to the Netherlands (2009–2011).

Fay Hartog was born in 1948 in the United States. Her parents Ada and Jo Hartog were Dutch Jews that fled from the Netherlands to Suriname in 1942 and emigrated to the United States in 1948, shortly before she was born.[1][2] She studied Russian language and literature at Northwestern University and law at Loyola University Chicago School of Law.[3][4] For over twenty years, she worked as a lawyer. She was an attorney and executive of the Field Museum in Chicago and she was a consultant for the Res Publica Group. She is married to Daniel Levin,[2] and she is the mother of two children.[1]

Hartog was involved in a controversial case involving a hit-and-run incident with a bicyclist in Chicago on May 7, 2012. She was driving a 2011 BMW 535Xi with her husband in the passenger seat. The victim, a 23 year old man, sustained injuries including cracked teeth. He was supported by witnesses, though she fled the scene. The license plate of the vehicle was left behind, enabling the Chicago Police Department to identify her. Though Hartog fought the case, she eventually settled when her insurance would not be able to pay for punitive damages. [1][5]

In 2009, she succeeded James Culbertson and became the 65th United States Ambassador to the Netherlands in The Hague. She presented her credentials to Queen Beatrix on August 19, 2009.[3] She resigned her post in September 2011.[6]
