The Federal Department of Justice and Police (German: Eidgenössisches Justiz- und Polizeidepartement, French: Département fédéral de justice et police, Italian: Dipartimento federale di giustizia e polizia ) is one of the seven departments of the Swiss federal government. It is headed by a member of the Swiss Federal Council, the Swiss justice minister. Until 1979, the department was known as the Department of Justice and Police.
