Summary
TIME 11:37
LICORICE CAKE, muscovado sugar, orange, anise
This was the one I was waiting for, in terms of plating, since every review I've read mentions the craziness of the one-bite dish on a stick that you're not allowed to eat with your hands. In our case, this was the licorice cake, which, on the stick, rather resembled a dandelion -- a ball of spun sugar fluff, with the gelatinous frozen licorice cake at the center with anise and orange accents.
Sue Wen: This was actually a bit big (ahem) for my mouth, as the spun sugar ended up slightly stabbing my tongue in the one-bite process. Also, our whole group agreed that somehow, this flavor combination tastes like meat. I have no idea why.
Kevin: I still claim I had a good approach here. After seeing other people gash their mouths on the sugar spikes, I figured I'd simply stick the thing in my mouth without closing down that much. In this way I could melt the ends of the spikes until I could fully bute down without cutting myself. This was working just fine until Elisa & Sue Went started laughing, which then caused me to laugh.
