Summary

The <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amaras_Monastery" class="extiw" title="w:Amaras Monastery">Amaras Monastery</a> in Nagorno Karabakh where in the 5th century <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Mesrob_Mashtots" class="extiw" title="w:Saint Mesrob Mashtots">Saint Mesrob Mashtots</a>, the inventor of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armenian_Alphabet" class="extiw" title="w:Armenian Alphabet">Armenian Alphabet</a>, established the first-ever Armenian school that used his script. The monastery was founded in the 4th century by <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Gregory_the_Illuminator" class="extiw" title="w:St. Gregory the Illuminator">St. Gregory the Illuminator</a>, who baptized the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Armenia" class="extiw" title="w:Kingdom of Armenia">Kingdom of Armenia</a> into the world's first Christian state in 301 AD.
