Carpenters’ Hall, built 1770-1774, by the Carpenters’ Company of the City and County of Philadelphia (still the owner), meeting place of the First Continental Congress, Autumn, 1774, first home of the Bank of the United States, 1791, and meeting place of many other early American organizations. Architect Robert Smith, in the Georgian style. Street address: 320 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106. National Register of Historic Places and National Historic Landmark, 1970.
