Summary

Dannevirke Danish Lutheran Church, at the northeast corner of county roads Dannevirke Road and Wausa, northwest of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elba,_Nebraska" class="extiw" title="w:Elba, Nebraska">Elba</a> in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_County,_Nebraska" class="extiw" title="w:Howard County, Nebraska">Howard County, Nebraska</a>; seen from the southwest. The church was built in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gothic_Revival_architecture" class="extiw" title="w:Gothic Revival architecture">Gothic Revival</a> style in 1906. With the community hall on the southwest corner of the intersection, it constitutes the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dannevirke_Danish_Lutheran_Church_and_Community_Hall" class="extiw" title="w:Dannevirke Danish Lutheran Church and Community Hall">Dannevirke Danish Lutheran Church and Community Hall</a>, which property is listed in the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Register_of_Historic_Places" class="extiw" title="w:National Register of Historic Places">National Register of Historic Places</a>. The <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juniperus_virginiana" class="extiw" title="w:Juniperus virginiana">red cedar</a> trees in the photo were planted in 1907. At lower left is the bell that formerly occupied the steeple; it was removed after the steeple was struck by lightning in 1994.
