This land was once part of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brick_Church_Mound_and_Village_Site" class="extiw" title="w:Brick Church Mound and Village Site">Brick Church Mound and Village Site</a> complex, a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mississippian_culture" class="extiw" title="w:Mississippian culture">Mississippian</a> village site that is listed on the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Register_of_Historic_Places" class="extiw" title="w:National Register of Historic Places">National Register of Historic Places</a>, although most of the site was destroyed in the late twentieth century to build a residential neighborhood.
