Summary

<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Maidstone_(1937)" class="extiw" title="en:HMS Maidstone (1937)">HMS MAIDSTONE</a>, submarine depot ship, berthed in the harbour at the North African port of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algiers" class="extiw" title="en:Algiers">Algiers</a>. Lying alongside are two famous submarines, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Safari_(P211)" class="extiw" title="en:HMS Safari (P211)">SAFARI</a> and <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Sahib_(P212)" class="extiw" title="en:HMS Sahib (P212)">SAHIB</a>. So great were their successes against Axis shipping, that they were known as the "Old Firm" and "Foundation members" to the rest of the Royal Navy.
