Summary
The largest data set for major elements (Schramm et al., 1989) comes from the analyses of 200 stratospheric interplanetary dust particles. Brownlee (1997) gives electron microprobe data for 500 cosmic spherules in the 1 micrometer to 1 millimeter size range but the compositions of these melted particles only partly reflect that of their precursors because of effects related to hypervelocity entry into the atmosphere (Love and Brownlee, 1991; Kornblum, 1969).
