The refurbishment involved erecting pink-<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/granite" class="extiw" title="en:granite">granite</a> columns at the points of the star that encompasses the memorial. Four of these have a placard in English and Turkish telling some of the story of the relationship between the countries and the relationship with Atatürk.

Flowers and wreaths were those laid on ANZAC Day, 25 April 2007.
