Summary

This photograph was taken by me on October 23rd, 2006, of the memorial plaque honouring <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Astaire" class="extiw" title="en:Fred Astaire">en:Fred Astaire</a> on the wall of Madden's Summerhill Cafe (formerly Madden's pub) on Main Street, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lismore,_County_Waterford" class="extiw" title="en:Lismore, County Waterford">Lismore, County Waterford</a>, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ireland" class="extiw" title="en:Ireland">Ireland</a>. It was erected by the people of Lismore in 2000 and unveiled by Astaire's daughter, Ava Astaire McKenzie, in recognition of Astaire's longstanding relationship with the village (he visited<a rel="nofollow" class="external autonumber" href="http://www.discoverlismore.com/fredastaire.shtml">[1]</a> his sister <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adele_Astaire" class="extiw" title="en:Adele Astaire">Adele Astaire</a> in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lismore_Castle" class="extiw" title="en:Lismore Castle">Lismore Castle</a> from the mid-1930s until the 1970s). Astaire continued to visit Ireland regularly until shortly before his death, visiting his daughter Ava who has lived in Ireland since 1975.
