The next day, the crew of the first manned Apollo mission were killed in a cabin fire in their Block I Command Module, CM-012. CM-101 was eventually flown by Walter M. Schirra, Donn F. Eisele and R. Walter Cunningham as Apollo 7. McDivitt's crew eventually flew the LM mission with CM-104 as Apollo 9.
