The moon is shown rising over a field adjacent to Müritz National Park. The bow of Orion is visible at the far right of the image, and Jupiter is just above the rising moon, in the constellation Gemini. A faint meteor is also visible at center left. The German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is home to some of the most pristine night skies in Germany.
The image was taken during a light pollution measurement campaign by Alejandro Sanchez de Miguel and Christopher Kyba. Sanchez de Miguel was in Berlin as part of a Short Term Scientific Mission of the EU COST Action LoNNe.
