Summary

Muslim-Byzantine troop movement from September 635 to just before the event of the en:Battle of Yarmouk. This image depicts the initial invasion of the Muslim armies on the towns of Damascus almost up to Antioch and their retreat at the knowledge of large number of Byzantine soldiers coming their way. This image has been inspired from the image in the book Yarmuk 636 AD: The Muslim Conquest of Syria by David Nicolle. The image however is an updated version of the map in the book and depicts towns in their original Greek names and their present names along with territorial jurisdiction based upon imagery from Google Maps (however none of the Google Maps themselves are used in this image). Rendered in SVG, this image is a work in progress and would detail other bits and pieces later. As the borders between the towns that fall on the subject's location are a matter of dispute, I have not used the borders as of yet but will include them in later updates.
