Summary

Fragment of a Purple machine on display at the United States National Security Agency's National Cryptologic Museum located in Ft. Meade, Maryland. The plaque at the base of the machine fragment reads: " 'Purple' This is the largest of three surviving pieces of the famous Japanese diplomatic cipher machine. It was recovered from the wreckage of the Japanese embassy in Berlin, 1945."
