Summary

The Malvinas/Falkland Current, an offshoot from the Antarctic Circumpolar Current, transports phytoplankton into the South Atlantic Ocean along the South American coast up to the Brazil–Malvinas Confluence. Based on the Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS) project at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center, this image shows chlorophyll concentrations in shades of blue (lower concentrations) to yellow (higher).
